Pattern Blocking

Pattern Blocking

Have you ever looked at someone's outfit and thought... what the heck were you thinking when you paired those together?! Pattern mixing can be done SO wrong, as we have all seen. But, PATTERN BLOCKING can be the trendiest, most chic fashion statement. Keep scrolling to avoid the fashion DON'T list!

You can't go wrong mixing anything with classic, black and white stripes. That's what makes this outfit look amazing with camouflage! We're mix and matching all the traditional fall colors with this look. Another way to make pattern blocking work? Stick to the same color scheme all over! The shoes match the hat, and black and white go with everything!

Another version of pattern blocking comes with separating the patterns from head, to toe! With stripes on top, it allows the animal print booties to pop without clashing. We're sticking to the same color scheme (hint hint) again here, so it works! Also, can we please just note how cute this pullover looks off the shoulder?! P.S., if you're not into the oversized look, give it a half tuck in front!

Okay, this outfit is DARING but it's definitely my favorite. Animal print skinnies can be hard to mix patterns with, which makes this look a bit more bold. But the wide stripes on this cape help seamlessly mix the two! Stick to a simple, solid top + shoes so the look doesn't cross the line of being TOO much. The bonus about this outfit? The cape will keep you warm + cozy no matter what the weather!

Pattern blocking can be the fine line between making the fashion DO and DON'T list, so make sure you're following the simple rules we've put together! We want to see your creations, so make sure you post and hashtag #wearrubyclaire when you do! Happy mixing + shopping Gems!
